Na h-Eileanan an Iar is the local authority area for the Outer Hebrides – also known as the Western Isles. The Western Isles includes 15 inhabited islands, from the Isle of Lewis in the north to Barra in the south.
The local authority is Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
Archaeology at the Comhairle is overseen by the Western Isles Archaeology Service.
SIRFA will focus on identifying research gaps and opportunities for the Western Isles in Year 1. Our first event will be the Western Isles symposium which will take place in Uist in January 2019
